A Sheepadoodle is a cross between an Old English Sheepdog and a Poodle that results in a pretty perfect dog. Combining the intelligence and the fun personality of a Poodle with the laid-back, sweet silliness of an Old English Sheepdog creates a dog who is intelligent and trainable, sweet and calm, playful and so completely lovable. They are full of energy, mischievous, need exercise along with a big yard, constant grooming and must realize you humans will quickly become his flock. The Sheepadoodle, with human-like eyes, will love you unconditionally, almost to a fault. So be prepared to have a shadow.
These easygoing dogs make wonderful additions to any family. They love children and get along well with other dogs and cats. If you question having a dog that will require a lot of attention and activity, this breed will not be a good match. The Sheepadoodle requires a moderate amount of exercise. They love to play and explore and then come in for cuddles or a nap! Going for a walk or playing using training activities or games are necessary to keep them from getting bored and getting into trouble.
The coat of a Sheepadoodle can vary from wavy to curly. Most Sheepadoodle puppies have a long wavy coat, but you can also get straight and curly-coated puppies. They need to be brushed daily to keep their coat free from tangles and mats. Their coat can be clipped short or shaved.
Sheepadoodles vary in size, largely depending on the size of the dogs used in breeding. A Sheepadoodle will typically average 45-80 pounds. The average lifespan of a Sheepadoodle is 12-15 years, like many other large breed dogs.
